For fans of the Kaiju No. 8 series, the upcoming mobile game adaptation has undoubtedly captured your attention. The exciting news is that we now have a confirmed release date of August 31st! In addition, a brand new trailer has been released.
Kaiju No. 8 The Game adapts the acclaimed manga by Naoya Matsumoto, centering on the Japanese Defence Force's struggle against colossal monsters. The story follows an ordinary member who awakens incredible new abilities that could either save the world or lead to its destruction.
The latest trailer introduces new original characters joining the mobile adaptation's Special Unit CLOZER, featuring Chester Lochburn, Suited, and unit leader Sagan Shinomiya. A completely original storyline is being developed for the game, ensuring it offers more than just a rehash of the source material.
Significant interest is already evident, with over 850,000 players pre-registered for in-game rewards. Exclusive four-star and five-star characters will be granted if pre-registrations reach one million. While anime adaptations can be inconsistent, fan enthusiasm for Kaiju No. 8 is clearly strong.
Personally, I'm curious to see the final product. However, some skepticism might be understandable, especially since Akatsuki Games (one of the three developers on this project) seemingly discontinued the cult favorite Tribe Nine earlier this year. Will Kaiju No. 8 suffer the same fate? Let's hope not, so be sure to look for it on storefronts starting August 31st!
In the meantime, if you're looking to broaden your gaming horizons, check out our ongoing Off The AppStore series. It showcases fantastic new releases available exclusively through third-party storefronts.
