Don't Nod, the renowned French studio behind Life is Strange, has unveiled the inaugural chapter of its latest story-rich adventure. Gamers can now experience Tape 1 firsthand, with Tape 2 scheduled for a complimentary release to all existing owners on April 15.
Initially announced in 2023, this haunting narrative follows a tight-knit friend group whose bonds shattered mysteriously during the summer of 1995. Nearly three decades later, long-buried secrets resurface with devastating consequences none of them anticipated.
Taking creative cues from classic thrillers like It, Yellowjackets, and I Know What You Did Last Summer, the game artfully combines nostalgic elements with psychological tension. The developers have structured the experience in two distinct acts - Bloom and Rage. Currently, only Bloom's atmospheric first half is accessible as of February 18.
The concluding chapter, internally dubbed "The Tape," will complete the story on April 15. While originally targeting March, the team prioritized refinement over rushing the release.
Early critical reception has now become public, with OpenCritic reporting a respectable 74/100 average score for this atmospheric mystery title.
