Monster Hunter Wilds Surpasses 8 Million Units Sold in 3 Days and Is the Fastest Capcom Game to Do So

Monster Hunter Wilds has achieved phenomenal success, surpassing eight million units sold within its first three days—a record-breaking feat that makes it Capcom's fastest-selling game ever. Capcom's announcement highlights Wilds' exceptional performance, significantly outpacing the five million units shipped by 2018's Monster Hunter World and the four million of Monster Hunter Rise in 2021.

This impressive sales surge is unsurprising given Wilds' remarkable launch. It soared past one million concurrent Steam players during its opening weekend, even surpassing Cyberpunk 2077 to become the seventh most-played game on the platform. This success also propelled Steam to a record-breaking 40 million concurrent players for the first time.

Our Monster Hunter Wilds review praised the game's improvements, stating it "continues to smooth off the rougher corners of the series in smart ways, making for some extremely fun fights but also lacking any real challenge."

The Monster Hunter franchise, launched in 2004 on PlayStation 2, continues its reign of success. Capcom revealed that the franchise had exceeded 108 million units sold as of December 31, 2024.
