Palworld Switch Release Uncertain Due to Technical Challenges, Not Pokémon Competition
While a Nintendo Switch version of Palworld isn't entirely off the table, Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe has voiced concerns about the technical hurdles involved in porting the game.
In a recent interview, Mizobe discussed the challenges of bringing Palworld to the Switch, citing the game's demanding PC specifications. While discussions regarding new platforms are ongoing, Pocketpair currently has no concrete announcements to make. Despite the technical challenges, Mizobe remains optimistic about expanding Palworld's reach to other platforms, but hasn't confirmed PlayStation, mobile, or other Nintendo consoles. Earlier comments confirmed discussions are underway to bring the game to additional platforms. Importantly, Mizobe clarified that there are no current buyout talks with Microsoft.
Beyond platform considerations, Mizobe expressed a desire to enhance Palworld's multiplayer aspects. An upcoming arena mode, described as an experiment, is a step towards a fully realized PvP mode, drawing inspiration from titles like Ark and Rust. These games are known for their challenging environments, resource management, and extensive player interaction, including alliances and combat.
Since its release, Palworld has achieved significant success, selling 15 million copies on PC in its first month and attracting 10 million players on Xbox Game Pass. A major update, including the free Sakurajima update launching this Thursday, will introduce a new island, the highly anticipated PvP arena, and more.
