Sony is set to enhance the experience for PlayStation Portal users engaged in its Cloud Streaming Beta with a new update rolling out later today. This update introduces several user experience improvements and boosts the functionality of the remote play system's cloud capabilities.

One of the key features added is the ability to sort games within the Cloud Streaming Beta catalog. Players can now organize their games by Name, Release Date, or based on which titles were most recently added to PlayStation Plus, making it easier to navigate and find new games to enjoy.

Another significant update is the introduction of gameplay capture during Cloud Streaming sessions. Users will have access to the standard create menu options, allowing them to take screenshots or record video clips up to 1920x1080 resolution and up to three minutes long, as mentioned in Sony's PlayStation blog.

Additionally, gameplay will now pause automatically when users open the PS Portal quick menu, enter rest mode via the power button, or encounter a system error message. However, if the Portal remains in rest mode for more than 15 seconds, the cloud streaming session will disconnect. It's worth noting that this pause feature won't be available during online multiplayer sessions.

Further enhancements include a queue system for when the streaming server reaches capacity, notifications for inactivity, and new user feedback tools. Sony has expressed its commitment to continuously refine and expand the Cloud Streaming Beta based on user input.

Currently exclusive to PlayStation Plus Premium members, the Cloud Streaming Beta enables players to stream select PS5 games from the PS Plus Catalog directly to the PS Portal. An update last year transformed the Portal into a more versatile standalone cloud streaming device, and it appears Sony is dedicated to further developing this feature.

As cloud streaming becomes increasingly integral to the gaming landscape, it will be fascinating to observe how Sony's service evolves in conjunction with the PlayStation Portal. For now, the ability to capture numerous screenshots while streaming to your Portal is a welcomed addition for gamers looking to share their experiences.
