PSA: Days Gone Remastered $10 PS5 Upgrade Not Available for Game Redemptions via PS Plus

Days Gone Remastered was a highlight of Sony's recent State of Play showcase, but its $10 upgrade price tag has sparked controversy among PlayStation Plus subscribers. Sony confirmed this upgrade, available only to those owning a PlayStation 4 disc or digital copy, excludes those who acquired the game through PS Plus. This means PS Plus users, including those who accessed the game via the now-defunct PS Plus Collection or the April 2021 Essential monthly offering, must pay the full $49.99 for the PS5 remaster.

This decision has fueled online complaints. A PlayStation Plus subreddit post overflows with comments from subscribers expressing their willingness to pay the $10 upgrade but opting to skip the game entirely due to the full price. Many believe Sony missed a significant revenue opportunity. One user, squarejellyfish\_, noted that even a small percentage of PS Plus owners upgrading would have generated substantial income. Others echoed this sentiment, highlighting their disappointment and unwillingness to pay full price, despite their interest in a cheaper upgrade option.

While some subscribers express understanding of Sony's potential cost-benefit analysis behind this decision, the company is facing criticism for perceived stinginess. The situation highlights a disconnect between player expectations and Sony's pricing strategy, particularly for those who received the game as part of their subscription.
