At this year's DICE Summit, Riot Games co-founder Marc Merrill shared his vision for the future, highlighting a key ambition: releasing a massively multiplayer online (MMO) game set within the rich worlds of League of Legends and Arcane.
Merrill revealed that this MMO project consumes a significant portion of his time, reflecting his deep passion for the genre. He believes this personal dedication, coupled with the immense desire among League of Legends fans for deeper immersion in their beloved universe, are crucial ingredients for the game's potential success.
While he refrained from offering concrete details, including a release date, Merrill playfully suggested a launch before humanity's first Martian landing. The feasibility of this prediction remains uncertain.
It's important to note that another League of Legends-universe game is in the works: 2XKO, a fighting game eagerly anticipated by fans for years. This project, unlike the MMO, boasts trailers and a projected release window—before the year's end.
