If you've been following us for a while, you're likely familiar with our parent company's event, Pocket Gamer Connects. One of our highlights at these events is the Big Indie Pitch, where we showcase innovative new indie games to a panel of judges. Today, we're excited to spotlight one of the top runners-up that caught our eye: the math-battling roguelike, Talystro!

At first glance, Talystro might seem like just another deckbuilding roguelike—a genre that's currently enjoying immense popularity. However, a closer look reveals why it stood out. In Talystro, you play as the math mouse, using a unique blend of cards and dice to battle number-based monsters on your quest to overthrow the evil Necrodicer.

So, how does it work? The gameplay revolves around combining dice and cards to reach a target number, which you use to eliminate monsters represented by specific numbers. Be mindful, though, as you have a limited number of dice rolls per turn.

Crypt of the NecrodicerTalystro boasts a quirky mix of rubber hose-style animation and a fantasy aesthetic, reminiscent of those math-focused educational games from your childhood. While it doesn't require advanced mathematics, the gameplay remains engaging and easy to understand at a glance.

Set to release in March, Talystro's simple yet challenging format—a common pitfall for many deckbuilders—promises to captivate players. Its blend of accessibility and depth is what we believe will make it a standout hit.

While you eagerly await Talystro's release, why not explore our latest list of the top five new mobile games to try this week? It's the perfect way to keep yourself entertained in the meantime!
