Can't resist Tom Hardy and Pierce Brosnan's gripping new crime drama? Craving more of Helen Mirren's commanding screen presence? Your wishes have been granted - Paramount+ has officially approved MobLand for a second season.
Since its March 30 debut, the star-studded series has attracted 26 million viewers worldwide, making its renewal an obvious choice. Paramount+ confirms MobLand currently ranks as the platform's second most-watched original series ever produced.
The ensemble cast includes House of the Dragon's Paddy Considine and Downton Abbey's Joanne Froggatt alongside the headline trio. The story centers on Hardy's character Harry Da Souza, a problem-solver working for Brosnan's crime patriarch Conrad Harrigan and his London syndicate.
Chris McCarthy, Paramount co-CEO and Showtime/MTV Entertainment president, praised the production: "MobLand's 26 million viewers demonstrate the phenomenal collaboration between producers Guy Ritchie, Jez Butterworth, Ronan Bennett, David C. Glasser and our extraordinary cast led by Tom, Pierce, and Helen."
The series currently holds a 75% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes for its freshman season. While streaming remains available, Paramount+ hasn't announced the Season 2 premiere date yet.
During recent promotion, Hardy opened up about the physical toll from action-heavy roles in Venom, Mad Max: Fury Road and The Dark Knight trilogy as he nears 50. "I've had knee surgeries, herniated discs, sciatica, plantar fasciitis - my body's falling apart," the 47-year-old actor shared candidly.
