This article is part of a directory: What You Need To Know About PlayStation Plus
In 2022, Sony revolutionized PlayStation Plus, ushering in a new era for the service. Now, players choose from three tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium. Essential access is required for online multiplayer in most games, and includes a few monthly freebies. However, for a robust selection of PS Plus horror games, Extra and Premium tiers are recommended.
The Extra tier boasts hundreds of PS5 and PS4 titles, with roughly 15 new additions monthly. Premium expands this library further, adding hundreds of classic PS3, PS2, PS1, and PSP games. Sony's service offers diverse genres, ensuring a wide appeal. This includes a solid horror selection, with some of the scariest PS Plus games ranking among the service's best.
Updated January 5, 2025 by Mark Sammut: The December 2024 PS Plus Extra and Premium lineup lacked new horror titles. Fans should therefore focus on existing offerings. Note that Resident Evil 2 will leave the service on January 21, 2025, removing a top genre pick. Fortunately, its campaigns are relatively short, allowing completion before removal. Resident Evil 3 remains available.
With no new horror additions, a new section highlighting alternative PS Plus games for horror fans has been included.
