Final Fantasy 16's Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) has made a heartfelt request to fans, urging them to steer clear of creating or installing "offensive or inappropriate" mods as the game launches on PC on September 17.
In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) shared his one wish for the game's modding community. As the game prepares for its PC release tomorrow, Yoshi-P emphasized the importance of keeping mods respectful and free from content that could be considered "offensive or inappropriate."
When asked by PC Gamer if there were any "particularly goofy" mods he'd like to see, it was director Hiroshi Takai who was initially posed the question. However, Yoshi-P quickly intervened to clarify the team's stance on modding.
"If we said 'It'd be great if someone made xyz,' it might come across as a request, so I'll avoid mentioning any specifics here!" Yoshida explained. "The only thing I will say is that we definitely don't want to see anything offensive or inappropriate, so please don't make or install anything like that."
Given his experience with other Final Fantasy titles, Yoshi-P is no stranger to the modding community's creations, which range from enhancing game graphics to introducing crossover cosmetics, such as the Half-Life Costume mod for FF15. However, not all mods are suitable for all audiences, and Yoshi-P's request seems to target those that fall into the NSFW category, like mods that offer "High quality nude body mesh replacement" with "4K materials."
Final Fantasy 16 on PC promises an enhanced gaming experience with an increased frame rate cap up to 240fps and various upscaling technologies. As the game rolls out to PC players tomorrow, Yoshi-P's message is clear: let's keep the modding community respectful and enjoyable for everyone.
