Assassin's Creed Shadows Voice Actor from Critical Role Revealed

Robbie Daymond of Critical Role fame is set to join the Assassin's Creed Shadows roster next week as Rufino, a new recruitable ally for protagonists Yasuke and Naoe.

Daymond originally conceptualized Rufino for a promotional one-shot campaign tied to Shadows. Early character art depicts him in a Portuguese-inspired doublet, complemented by an elaborate mustache.

Rufino becomes available as a recruitable ally with the upcoming June 25 game update. This marks the latest instalment in Shadows' free post-launch narrative expansions, coming after a previous Dead by Daylight crossover mission.

To date, Shadows' additional story content has been concise, offering roughly 20 minutes of gameplay per release. As one of only six recruitable allies in the game, Rufino presents an opportunity for more substantial narrative impact.

The extent of Rufino's involvement remains uncertain. Will he be summonable in combat like other allies? Could players pursue romantic storylines with him—an option available with certain companions? Or will he simply occupy space at the hideout? Answers arrive next week.

Ubisoft previously confirmed the June update will introduce new difficulty settings, immersion options, and an open-world alert system to maintain tension. The highly requested ability to maintain helmet visibility during cutscenes will also be implemented.

Future development includes New Game Plus functionality and additional story content featuring more crossovers. Before year's end, Shadows will receive its first major expansion—Claws of Awaji—continuing the main narrative while introducing a new Japanese region to explore.
