Capcom Launches First-Ever Game Development Competition: A Collaboration for Industry Growth
Capcom is fostering industry growth through education with its inaugural Capcom Games Competition, a student-focused game development tournament. This initiative aims to strengthen the video game industry by bridging the gap between academia and industry.
The competition, open to Japanese university, graduate, and vocational school students (18+), will utilize Capcom's proprietary RE ENGINE. Teams of up to 20 students will collaborate on game development over six months, mentored by experienced Capcom developers. This hands-on experience will expose participants to cutting-edge game development techniques.
Capcom will provide winning teams with invaluable game production support and the potential for commercialization of their projects. The application period runs from December 9, 2024, to January 17, 2025.
The RE ENGINE, Capcom's powerful game development engine (first used in Resident Evil 7), powers numerous successful titles, including recent Resident Evil installments, Dragon's Dogma 2, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds. Its continuous evolution ensures high-quality game development.
This competition represents a significant step toward nurturing future talent and driving innovation within the gaming industry.
