When it comes to mecha design, Japan stands unchallenged as the global leader - having pioneered both the "real robot" and "super robot" subgenres. In an exciting development, My.Games' War Robots announces a collaboration with legendary mecha designer Kunio Okawara, who will create an exclusive in-game unit.
Okawara is best known for co-creating the iconic RX-78-2 Gundam with writer Yoshiyuki Tomino. This seminal real robot design has appeared across generations of anime series and even Hollywood productions like Ready Player One.
War Robots players will soon pilot Okawara's original creation - the SWORD Unit 190, developed in-universe by the DSC Corporation. The designer has also created custom drones and plasma weaponry to complement the mech.
The SWORD Unit 190 will debut during the MECHA Raider S.W.O.R.D event running from May 20th to June 1st. This special event pays homage to classic real robot anime with authentic mech designs.
Even if you're unfamiliar with Okawara's legendary work, his new creation promises to be a visually stunning and powerful addition to any pilot's garage.
