In a world brimming with video games, finding a truly unique title can be challenging. My Father Lied, however, stands out with its captivating narrative and intriguing blend of mystery and Lovecraftian elements. This puzzle adventure game offers a compelling story that sets it apart from the crowd.
The game's creation story is fascinating. Ahmed Alameen, the developer, initially pursued writing and filmmaking. A collaborative game project with a college friend fell through, but the core story remained. Alameen, driven by his vision, independently learned 3D modeling and Unreal Engine, bringing his concept to life. Even the title itself was a collaborative effort with his wife.
My Father Lied plunges players into a mystery steeped in ancient Mesopotamian myths, challenging them with secrets, puzzles, and unexpected twists. Players assume the role of Huda, a young woman grappling with a twenty-year-old question: what happened to her father? The answer, as the story unfolds, proves far from straightforward.
The game masterfully blends ancient Mesopotamian culture with modern storytelling. The intuitive point-and-click gameplay features beautiful 2D visuals and immersive 360-degree images, making the experience both engaging and accessible.
My Father Lied launches on PC on May 30th, 2025. Android and iOS versions are anticipated in Q3 2025. For more information, visit the official Kickstarter or Steam pages. The game is not yet available on the Google Play Store; the developers will likely focus on the mobile versions after the Steam release.
