LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has shared exciting news about the company's strategic direction, emphasizing a significant expansion into the digital realm with a focus on developing video games. This initiative involves both in-house projects and collaborations with other developers, showcasing LEGO's commitment to engaging children of all ages across various platforms.
"We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing." - Niels Christiansen
This move into game development does not mean LEGO will cease its successful licensing agreements with third-party developers. For example, journalist Jason Schreier recently reported that TT Games, renowned for its LEGO-themed titles, is currently developing a new LEGO game, possibly linked to one of Warner Bros.' popular franchises.

LEGO's most prominent gaming endeavor to date is its ongoing partnership with Epic Games. Last year, Fortnite introduced a LEGO-themed mode that quickly became a fan favorite, highlighting the potential for LEGO in digital gaming. Furthermore, LEGO has built a strong reputation through its collaboration with TT Games, which has produced beloved adventure game series over the last two decades. While new releases from TT Games have been scarce recently, there are whispers of a new LEGO Harry Potter game on the horizon, following the commercial success of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
In addition to these projects, LEGO's partnership with 2K Games led to the launch of LEGO 2K Drive last year, a racing game that further demonstrates the brand's adaptability and versatility within the gaming industry.
