A PlayStation studio, recently formed from former Bungie employees, is reportedly developing a MOBA titled "Gummy Bears." Initially conceived at Bungie, this project, codenamed "Gummy Bears," has undergone a developer shift, with a new team of approximately 40 taking the reins.
This unique MOBA is rumored to draw inspiration from the Super Smash Bros. series, employing a percentage-based damage system instead of traditional health bars. Characters are knocked back further based on damage percentage, and high enough damage can even knock them off the map – a core mechanic of Super Smash Bros.
The game is expected to feature three character classes (Attack, Defense, and Support) and multiple game modes. Its visual style is described as cozy, vibrant, and "lo-fi," a departure from Bungie's previous, more mature titles. This stylistic choice aims to attract a younger audience.
Development on Gummy Bears reportedly began in 2020, spanning at least three years. While its release date remains uncertain, the game is likely still years from launch. The shift to a new PlayStation studio suggests a significant restructuring, possibly explaining the delay.
