InZOI’s Game Director, Hyungjun "KJoon" Kim, has provided new insights into the game's unique paranormal features. According to KJoon, InZOI will include supernatural elements such as ghosts and an afterlife system, carefully integrated into the gameplay to enhance the overall experience without overpowering it.
One of the standout mechanics is the ability for players to control ghosts—but only to a limited extent. This feature is deeply connected to the game’s karma system, which keeps track of a character’s actions throughout their life and influences what happens in future lives. Interestingly, this influence doesn’t end with death.
A character’s karma score determines their fate after death: they may either transition peacefully to the afterlife or become a ghost trapped in the world of the living. To move on, these lingering spirits must earn the missing karma points through specific in-game interactions.
While ghosts will be present in the early access version of InZOI, full player control over them won’t be available right away—this functionality is planned for a later update. The development team has made it clear that InZOI remains primarily a simulation of real-life experiences, so paranormal content will be subtle and selectively implemented. However, hints have been dropped that additional mysterious and unexplained phenomena could make their way into the game down the line.
