Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet promises a significantly more expansive experience than the studio's previous works, with developers drawing inspiration from Elden Ring to enhance open-world exploration mechanics. According to journalist Ben Hanson, the game is set on a vast single planet where players will unravel the secrets of a lost civilization and delve into a new religion, which forms a pivotal aspect of the narrative. While it's uncertain how closely the game will align with traditional open-world concepts, it's clear that the developers are steering away from the linear structures seen in their earlier projects.

This marks the studio's first venture into a solo-player experience, with no companions or allies by your side. As Neil Druckmann explains, the game aims to evoke a profound sense of solitude within an uncharted universe, while also exploring themes of faith and religion in depth. The story unfolds in an alternate future on the planet Sempiria, isolated from the rest of the galaxy for over 600 years. It's here that bounty hunter Jordan Moon arrives, driven by her contract.

Druckmann also highlights that the game's development was influenced by titles like Half-Life 2 and Monkey Island. This suggests a move away from conventional hints, leaning instead towards a narrative style where players must piece together the story's fragments themselves.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was unveiled at TGA 2024, though a release date has yet to be announced.
