Hopetown, a groundbreaking nonlinear RPG crafted by Longdue Games, introduces a refreshing twist on narrative-driven gameplay. The studio, established by former employees of acclaimed developers like ZA/UM, Rockstar Games, and Bungie, has unveiled the first glimpse into the game's mechanics, positioning Hopetown as a spiritual successor to the beloved Disco Elysium. The storyline revolves around a journalist who wakes up in a mining town following a night of excessive drinking. With a pounding hangover, players are tasked with reconstructing the previous night's events while navigating an escalating local conflict. The choices made by players—whether to soothe tensions or exacerbate them—will significantly shape the narrative.

Screenshots showcase a dialogue-rich experience where player decisions have a profound impact on the storyline. The game offers multiple archetypes, each providing unique dialogue options and approaches during conversations. For instance, when interacting with an elderly woman feeding pigeons, players can choose different tones that will influence the outcome of the encounter.
Longdue Games is gearing up to launch a Kickstarter campaign to finance the project, with an active page already available on the platform. Although no specific release date has been announced, excitement is mounting among enthusiasts of narrative-focused RPGs.
It's worth noting that Hopetown is not the only game inspired by Disco Elysium. Two other studios, Dark Math Games and Summer Eternal, are also developing their own psychological RPGs, adding to the growing interest in this genre.
