The highly anticipated single-player action game, Lost Soul Aside, originally slated for release on May 30, 2025, has been delayed by three months to August 29, 2025, as announced by its developer, Ultizero Games. After nearly a decade of development, the game was poised for its debut on PC and PlayStation 5 next month, but a recent statement from the developer cited the need for additional polish as the reason for the delay.
"We are truly grateful for the positive response we've received from players all over the world since we announced Lost Soul Aside," Ultizero Games stated. "We remain committed to delivering a high-quality game experience. To match the standards Ultizero Games have set for ourselves, we are going to take some additional time to polish the game. Lost Soul Aside will now release on August 29, 2025. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to our fans waiting for the launch."
Originally a passion project of solo developer Yang Bing, Lost Soul Aside has evolved into a major title published by Sony under its China Hero Project. Bing, who is now the founder and CEO of the Shanghai-based studio Ultizero Games, has seen his vision expand from a solo endeavor to a widely recognized game.
In a recent interview with IGN, Yang Bing discussed the long journey to launch. The game's development escalated from a solo creator's vision to a trailer reveal at Sony's State of Play broadcast, building hype among fans. Many consider Lost Soul Aside an exciting blend of Final Fantasy characters and Devil May Cry combat, a sentiment that has been present since Yang Bing's initial reveal video went viral in 2016.
The game features the main character, Kesar, who wields a shape-shifting weapon that can be swapped between, altering your playstyle. Kesar is accompanied by a dragon-like companion named Arena, who can summon abilities to support him. Drawing inspiration from its predecessors, Lost Soul Aside emphasizes aerial dodging, precision timing, combos, and countering, along with large-scale boss fights. The game's sci-fi premise is blended with contemporary aesthetics, taking players across multiple dimensions in a campaign described by Bing as a journey of "redemption and discovery."
