Bethesda has rolled out the first post-launch patch for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, currently available in Steam beta since June 5, 2025, with a full platform release scheduled for June 11.
Update 1.1 marks the first of two planned patches, focusing primarily on quest fixes, major bug resolutions, and quality-of-life improvements. The forthcoming second patch will specifically address performance issues, with Bethesda promising more details soon.
Performance improvements are desperately needed. While the remaster has achieved commercial success with over 4 million players and 'very positive' Steam reviews, technical issues persist across all platforms.
Digital Foundry's analysis reveals significant problems with Unreal Engine 5 implementation:
All platforms suffer from traversal stutters, degraded frame rates over extended play sessions (potentially due to memory leaks), and frequent crashing to system menus. Performance notably deteriorates with continued playtime, and curious bugs emerge like incorrect camera positioning during horseback riding.
PC performance fares no better, described by analysts as "dire" in their comprehensive technical review.

The patch introduces useful console commands (ToggleHudVisibility, ShowHud) for screenshot enthusiasts, along with numerous critical fixes:
Developed by Virtuos using Unreal Engine 5, the remaster features 4K/60FPS gameplay alongside comprehensive gameplay refinements. While controversial among fans for its technical issues, the visual overhaul and mechanical improvements have been well-received, with many arguing the changes qualify as a full remake.
