Elden Ring: Nightreign will remove the in-game messaging feature, a departure from previous FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. Nightreign's approximately forty-minute gameplay sessions leave insufficient time for players to write or read messages effectively.
"Given the roughly forty-minute session length, there isn't enough time to send or read messages, so we disabled the feature," Ishizaki stated.
This choice is noteworthy, as player messaging has been a significant element in FromSoftware games, enhancing player interaction and enjoyment. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate narrative. It offers a fresh adventure with unique challenges and encounters, while retaining the atmosphere and complexity of the Elden Ring world.
